On 28th of August, 2010 Salaam Bharat has started its new flame in Pune, that is 'Spread of education and literacy'. We work for a number of issues but our primary focus is education. It is our duty to spread the education. We had similar experiences in all villages here in Pune.To encourage more children to join school for their better future, we told their parents that if their children are educated, they could seek employment like anyone else and support them financially as well. That seems to have worked because a larger number of children are now going to school in our villages than before it is because of all we know the actual meaning of education. Education gives us the ability to standup and asks questions.

We have visited two places here Manglewadi and Bhilarewadi. This program was lead by the Gaurav Balyan (Salaam Bharat President - Pune Wing) and all other Organization members in Pune. This event success is the hard work and firm determination of the volunteers from Bharti Vidhyapeeth University. Volunteers from the organization are Rajeshwar Singh, Abhijeet Iyengar, Mukesh Mishra, Kavan Patel, Pritam Chaurasiya.

On 18th of July 2010 Salaam Bharat organized an event named Daan-Verdaan under which clothes and shoes collected from different residential societies were distributed in the slums of sector 62. This program was lead by the Executive General Secretary of the organization, Mr. Harshit Gupta. The volunteers of the organization participated in this event with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Huge amount of cloths and shoes were contributed by Worlds of Wonder (IRPPL). Special cooperation was provided by Mr. Ashwini Suri (RWA-MEA Apartments) and Mr. Kaul (RWA-Gaur Green City).
From the organization, National President Mr. Lokendra Pal Singh, General Secretary Mr. Anubhav Akhileshwar Srivastava, National Coordinator Mr. Narendra Kumar Verma, Uttar Pradesh Youth Coordinator Mr. Girjesh Kumar and Director – Marketing and Communication Mr. Anurag Singh as well as Founder of Prayas (Vrindavan) Mr. Abhay Vashistha was present at this event.

1) Education-[Shikhsa]: Education is the backbone of any society. Education has a major role in the upbringing of an individual and hence small loop hole in education systems leads to a number of drawbacks in the society. Hence for improving the quality of education, we need to consider following areas:

* Change in way of delivering education.
* Developing a new syllabus for all round growth of the students.
* Developing a new education system for eliminating the loop holes of present structure.
* Education for all.

2) Children Rights (health, education, environment etc)-[Baalhans]: The under mentioned data suggests the miserable condition of children in India which needs to be improved as they are the future of the Country.

* 50% children have no education.
* 80% students drop out due to inaccessible schools.
* 22% children in the workforce.
* 44% children working as house helpers.
* 32% children suffered sexual abuse.

3) Women Welfare-[Shakti]: Over 190 million females in India are illiterate. They are living miserable lives. They have to bear responsibility of household work from early age or they have to work at different places to earn money. They often become the victims of harassment and sometimes physical exploitation even. They are treated as a curse to the family as family will have to afford dowry at the time of their marriage. Due to the same reason, female infants are often killed.

4) Environmental Responsibilities-[Vasundhara]: We have to protect our environment if we want to protect ourselves as change in environment directly affects our lives. The major pollutions prevailing in our environment are as under.

* Air pollution.
* Water pollution.
* Noise pollution.
* Cultural pollution.

5) Rural Development-[Utthaan]: Major Population of India dwells in Villages, but life in most of the villages is very miserable. Lack of Schools, poor connectivity with town and cities, and lack of knowledge of new farming techniques and business opportunities leads to such condition of most of the villages. Rise in the living standard of 10% of so-called high class, can’t be considered as India rising. For an overall development of the country, we have to look for the other 90% also. That is why, working for rural development has its importance. Although there are many more, yet some major problems related to rural area is mentioned below:

* 25% villages do not have safe drinking water.
* 84% families have no access to toilets.
* Displacement, Recurring, droughts and continuous migration.

6) Public Awareness-[Jagrati]: Connecting citizens, civil society groups, corporates, academicians, media and government for sustainable growth of the country as they are the people who play very role in the growth of the country.

7) Disaster and Emergency Relief-[Kartavya]: India is a land of vast diversity. She have totally different types of climates at different areas. Likewise different areas of India face different Natural Calamities. For example:

* Earth quake in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
* Drought in Karnataka, Gujarat and some parts of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Orissa.
* Flood in Bihar and some parts of Uttar Pradesh and west Bengal.
* A number of people loose their lives and many more get injured and loose their property during such disasters. It is a pious task to provide help to these people to fight with their sufferings.

8) Religious and Cultural Activities-[Moksha]: Religion is what promotes people to follow the principles of humanity and brotherhood. For centuries, people have been coming to India from different part of the world, sometimes attracted by her prosperity and sometimes by her enriched culture. Unlike other countries India accepted all these races without any discrimination. In this way, India has become home to people from all religions and these people have same respect and love toward her.

Another aspect is that of culture. The people coming from different part of the land and having different religious background have different cultural practices too. India has a peculiar tendency to accept good things from anyone rather than being rigid on her own ideas. This gave rise to precious culture formed by combination of different customs and traditions. So ignoring religious and cultural aspects will make salute to the nation incomplete.

सलाम भारत ( वसुंधरा)

6 दिसंबर, 2009 को नोएडा सेक्टर 58 में सलाम भारत के वसुंधरा कार्यक्रम के तहत वृक्षारोपड़ किया गया। कार्यक्रम संस्था के कॉलेज को–औरडिनेटर (जे॰ एस॰ एस॰ एकेडमी ऑफ़ टेक्नीकल एजूकेशन ) हर्षित गुप्ता की देख−रेख में संपन्न हुआ। कार्यक्रम में जे॰ एस॰ एस॰ एकेडमी ऑफ़ टेक्नीकल एजूकेशन के अभियांत्रिकी एवं प्रबंधन के छात्रों ने स्वयंसेवकों के रूप में बढ़−चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया। स्वयंसेवकों ने विभिन्न प्रकार के 117 पौधे लगाए तथा उनके संरक्षण का भी प्रण किया। जयेन्द्र प्रताप सिंह व मृणाल पटेल ने इस कार्यक्रम के को–औरडिनेटर की भूमिका निभाई। इस अवसर पर संस्था के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष श्री लोकेन्द्र पाल सिंह तथा महासचिव श्री अनुभव अखिलेश्वर श्रीवास्तव भी उपस्थित रहे।

Why Salaam Bharat ?

The custodians or the flag bearers of the society have laid down some hippo critic double standards that are prevalent even in the modern times. Conversely there has been much wrongs inflicted upon the infirm. Apathy and brutality shown by the resourceful towards the needy has been often criticized but the much needed action was never conspicuous. This has given way to activists who have stood for the rights of the people from time to time. History has been marked with bloody insurgence though that is self-destructive and doesn’t restore anything. It brings havoc upon the innocent who prefers to be a passive witness to the tumult and has nothing to do with bows and arrows, he who toils in the sun to earn few pieces of bread. Their complacency lies in being able to fulfill their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. Surprisingly even after 55 years of independence and conquering new depths and heights of ocean and space we haven’t converged to ensuring a meal a day for everyone. Poverty and hunger still remain to be a paradoxical issue yet to be answered, in spite of the efforts of both government and private organizations aiming to bridge this gap. What Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa started years ago needs to be pursued with even more zeal and enthusiasm. Times have come when we need to answer to ourselves putting aside the frivolous objects dominating our lives. It’s the time to repay what we’ve unthankfully been taking from the society.

Consequently our initiative christened as “Salaam Bharat” has come to the forefront to take charge. It is a tribute to the nation expressing the faith of the unprivileged who wish to bring an end to their sufferings. It aims at reformation of the society where inequality, suffering and customs are shunned and laws of humanity and fraternity are adopted for sustainable development of all. It is not constrained to occupying a portion of digitized text but a movement of a few ordinary visionaries with lofty ideals and aspirations who are ever ready to nurture their cause with concrete steps. We’ve come a step closer in being able to achieve our objectives by prioritizing the immediate issues that need utmost attention and necessitate to be solved at hand. Therefore we’d like to let people know the spur that drives us to walk that extra mile knowing that our effort is worth.

Akshar Gyan

The only thing which makes difference in animals and humans is education. It is said in Shastras about education that Sa vidya ya vimuktaye, which means education is what sets you free. It sets us free from troubles as a knowledgeable person knows the solution of any problem. It sets us free from poverty as an educated person has ability to earn, and above all, it sets us free from miseries by leading our way to Salvation.

When we decided to work for Children Rights, this idea lead us to begin with education. For this purpose, we started to supported the education plan named “Akshar Gyan”. Akshar Gyan is to educate poor children who are not getting education. We are very thankful to the management of JSS Academy of Technical Education, Sec 62, Noida, who gave us the opportunity to give the support this education plan in their campus for this noble cause.

This free education plan is run by students of JSS Academy of Technical Education, under the kind guidance of collage management. This free education plan is lead by Mr. Harshit Gupta, College Coordinator who is a hardcore Socialist. He has lead several social activities like blood donation, polio awareness etc. Thus, we have taken our first step towards our mission and with the cooperation and participation of the society, we will soon accomplish it.

Akshar Gyaan is a free education plan for poor children.

June 14th is the World Blood Donor Day, blood donation might sound like a scary thing to many, but frankly it is very easy task. People often compare that what if they lost that same amount of blood in an injury or accident, frankly both are incomparable situations, because during an accident there are other bodily injuries which cause most pain and not just the loss of blood. The demand for blood is increasing as surgeries that require more transfusions become common. Often hospitals around the world have to postpone surgeries because of a lack of available blood.

There are several benefits of blood donation to the donor himself:

1. The Kansas University Medical Center found that men who participate in blood donation experience a 30 percent fewer incidents of heart disease and stroke compared to those people who did not.

2. In 1998 American Journal of Epidemiology published that blood donation can reduce the overall iron levels in blood, which may protect against heart attack. But this applies to people who had high iron in their blood to begin with.

3. Blood donation forces your body to replace the lost blood with fresh NEW cells.

4. Men do not have menstrual period, therefore they store iron in their bodies, often its more than they need.

5. A healthy body replaces blood within 48 hours and creates NEW red blood cells within a week.

6. Most blood donation sites check your heart rate, hemoglobin, blood pressure etc.. for FREE. If you get those checked in a regular doctor's clinic, it will cost you money.

7. You hardly lose blood, average adult has 10 pints of total blood, we donate just 1 pint. Giving blood will not decrease your strength.

8. Most employers usually give time off when you want to donate blood.

Types of Blood Groups:
There are four blood groups: Type A, Type B, Type AB, and Type O. Additionally there are positive and negative types of each blood group. Type O negative is are "universal donors", which means all blood types can usually receive Type O negative blood donation. Blood centers often run short of types O and B red blood cells.

Blood donation Pre-Screening:
The nurse (or medical expert) taking your blood will ask you some questions which will determine whether or not you are eligible to donate blood and then perform some basic health checks. Questions include any medication you are taking, your current and health in recent days/months, your age, height, weight, recent travel, sex and tattooing history. Blood donor requirements change very frequently. Anyone who is in good health, is at least 17 years old, and weighs at least 110 pounds (about 50 kgs) may donate blood every once in 2-3 months.

Snacks and drinks are provided to the blood donors to help restore blood sugar. It is advisable to sit for a few minutes, then eat well and drink enough water for the next few days. You cannot get AIDS or any other blood disease by donating blood if a new needle before you donate blood. Blood makes up about 7 percent of your body's weight

Salaam Bharat is a non-profit NGO fostering to bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots of the society. It embodies our belief that patriotism is neither an asset of the resourceful nor exists in exclusivity, its motto is always noble and lies above materialistic barriers. We are a believer of the cult of dreamers who dare to aspire and know how to fabricate their plans into reality. Although our country is scaling to new heights of globalization but nevertheless the conspicuous void between the unprivileged and the people enjoying the surplus hasn’t witnessed any contraction.

In addition to the government’s initiatives several NGO’s and other organizations have taken up to answering to the cries of the society in the past. Much fruitful results have come out of their strenuous efforts but owing to the never ceasing demand of our country the supply is not ample to meet the ends. Consequently we felt that now it’s our turn to take the drivers seat and contribute to the cause of Social Upliftment or “Social Re-engineering” as we term it.

We are ready to walk that extra mile and despite all the predicaments that almighty has offered to us we take it optimistically as a test of our nerves. We seek to exemplify our concern and foresight for the society through our mission. So friends we look forward to your suggestions to make this vision into a reality.
